FIRST EDITION of this rare pre-Revolutionary War pamphlet, last selling in the rooms in 1976. “In this rare 42 page tract, the anonymous writer, discussing the causes of the discontentment in the colonies, favors conciliatory rather than coersive measures in dealing with North America. It has been ascribed to Edmund Jenings” (Kenneth Nebenzahl catalogue note). The Monthly Review (XXXIV.69) describes the writer as being “in favor of conciliatory measures with the colonies, and rather severe on those who would let slip the dogs of war on their American brethren”.
