[Hindenburg Disaster] A Structural Relic Recovered from the Hindenburg Zeppelin. Bull Tobin Collection. Lightweight section of struts, constructed of aluminum alloy (approx. 9 x 3 x 4”) recovered from the wreck of the Hindenburg after it crashed in Lakehurst, New Jersey on May 6, 1937. From the collection of Frederick J. “Bull” Tobin (1892—1978), one of the chief boatswains managing the mooring lines when the vessel caught fire and crashed.
