Etched sheet of 18 figures, lettered A-S (except J), intended to be cut out as playing cards, each with a full-length illustration of a circus or street performer, including equilibrists, acrobats, animal trainers, and mountebanks. 11¾ × 14 5/8" (plate); sheet 15 3/8 × 18½" (some mended tears at edges, outside printed area). The cards were a satire on the South Sea and Mississippi Bubbles, financial crises of 1720 (BM Satires 1690).
