FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY KYOKO SHIRASE in Kanji and dated 29 November 2010 at the ceremony in Tokyo Japan commemorating 100 years since Shirase’s departure from Tokyo Bay. Kyoko Shirase is the grandchild of Nobu Shirase’s younger brother who served as the first director of the Memorial Hall of the Shirase Expeditionary Party to the South Pole (The Shirase Museum), in Nikaho, Japan. Kyoko shows her affection for her great-uncle in this biography that encompasses Shirase’s entire life from early childhood to his death. Ross 2.10.1 (“Very rare”).
