(Lacking pp. 67-68 which were unrelated to Shirase). Original color pictorial wrappers (spine chipped with losses, some wear to textblock at bottom fore-corner, small spot of loss on front wrappers).
FIRST EDITION of this significant publication since much information related to Shirase and the Japanese Antarctic Expedition was previously unknown. The subtitles of this issue on the front cover say “Kainan-maru logbook and many photos”. 28-pages are dedicated to Nobu Shirase which includes letters from the crew, the logbook written by Tada Keiichi, humorous episodes on the Kainan Maru, etc. Ross 3.25A (“Rare”).
