9 volumes total (vols. 1-6, the first three duplicated), small folio. 305 specimens mounted on leaves with printed captions also mounted (many with mounted slivers of rocks containing lichen), loose in portfolios as issued with title-pages and content leaves (leaves soiled near margins, some flaking to specimens, few loose). Original boards with ties, printed spine labels (extremities soiled and darkened, labels worn, spines also a bit worn).

A RARE WORK by one of the early Lichenists that helped propel the study and classification of these plants in 1851 with his monograph The British Species of Angiocarpous Lichens.
