[LIFESIZE CAST BRONZE SCULPTURE]. [ARTIST UNKNOWN]. [LU XUN, pseudonym of Zhou Shuren (1881-1936]. Life Size Bronze Sculpture of Chinese Writer, Lu Xun (Chinese, 1881-1936). [China: 20th century]. Cast bronze hollow statue of Lu Xun, seated on a chair, with his familiar cigarette in his left hand. He was a leading figure in modern Chinese literature and wrote Diary of a Madman in 1918. 53 ½ h x 37 w x 41” d. The collector had never been able to trace another example corresponding to the present bronze. Some time ago, the collector corresponded with the folks at Lu Xun Park in Shanghai. The expert on Chinese public sculpture there knew of no corresponding example. Though it has some similarity to the example they display in the park, the two are not derived from each other. It appears to be therefore not a part of any known edition and entirely an original work. A unique item. Originally an outdoor sculpture, this has the expected light oxidation and occasional discoloration. Excellent condition. Third Party Shipping Required.
