Contemporary full calf, boards ruled in blind, blind-stamped emblem in center of each board, spine stamped in gilt, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label (binding worn, soiled, spine missing nearly 2” at headcap, joints worn and cracking, Priviledge leaf and title-page possibly supplied from another copy, gutter facing p. 7 cracking, text a bit toned, some wear, soiling, foxing). Early edition of this history of England. Daniel was a poet and historian, and may be the first modern historian, in that his historical writings didn’t have a political or religious agenda – he just reported information based on verifiable sources and cited these sources.
