Provenance: Sir Robert Johnson Eden, 5th Baronet (1774-1844), armorial bookplate. FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED TO EDEN FROM THE AUTHOR. Lax, a Fellow of the Royal Society and fellow of Trinity College, was an English astronomer and mathematician who is credited with the form and contents of the Nautical Almanac - an important reference for navigation in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
