Bound to style in modern full calf, boards ruled in gilt with gilt floral cornerpieces, spine ruled and tooled in gilt in compartments, six raised bands, red gilt morocco lettering label, new marbled endleaves and blanks. Third edition, expanded. Established by Pope Paul III in 1545 and disbanded in 1563, the Council of Trent clarified the church’s positions on doctrine and teachings and issued condemnations of Protestantism.
