DOYLE, Mary Conan (1889-1976). A Visit to Heaven. Hindhead and [Edinburgh: T. and A. Constable for] Arthur Conan Doyle, 1899.

16mo. (Small stain on title-page). Original printed wrappers, uncut (few tiny stains). Provenance: Vincent Starrett (ownership signature on title-page verso). Starrett was a mystery and supernatural fiction writer for pulp magazines during the 1920s and 1930s. He is best-known for his work “The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes” published in 1933 which is considered the first book on Sherlock Holmes scholarship and a cornerstone of Sherlockiana. It has also been credited with jumpstarting the creation of Sherlockian Societies.

FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, one of 200 copies, containing a story by Arthur Conan Doyle’s daughter that was written when she was just 9 years old.
