FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, INSCRIBED BY DOYLE on the title-page. At the advice of his spirit guide on 17 March 1922, Doyle and his family arrived in the United States on 9 April 1922 to “leave his mark for ever upon America” by touring the East Coast with lectures about spiritualism. The lectures drew enormous audiences in New York, where his lectures had to be repeated and the huge success gave Doyle another chance at touring the United States a year later, this time reaching cities further west.
