Sepia photo (sight 6 ½ x 4 ½”, overall in folder 13 x 10”), signed in pencil at lower margin, mounted in original studio matting and folder. A similar photograph, from the same sitting, was used as a frontispiece in John Lamond’s 1931 biography of Doyle. Ransford took the “fake” photographs that illustrated Doyle’s first edition of The Lost World.
