[Ca. 1933-1935]. Album has 24 leaves with four photos per leaf; photos are approximately 2 x 3”. Most photos have neat pencil notations. Album approximately 7 x 5 ¼”. Publisher’s full green cloth, front board and spine stamped in gilt (spine toned, some rubbing, soiling to binding, hinge just starting). SECOND EDITION. The photo album chronicles a series of day trips to Dartmoor in the mid-1930s, and features ancient remains, mystic landmarks, and rock formations; some points of interest include: Fox Tor Mire, Grimspound remains, Childe’s Tomb, Jay’s Grave, Siward’s Cross, and more. These moody and evocative photos, naturally, remind one of Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902), which famously takes place on Dartmoor.
