Full-page ad for Alexander Film Corporation “A Series of Fifteen Two-Reel Features ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’...” featuring Eille Norwood as Holmes. -- “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes A Real Box-Office Tonic for Every Exhibitor”. [U. S. A.]: Exhibitors Trade Review, July 8, 1922. Approximately 12 ½ x 9”. Rare double-page ad featuring Eille Norwood as Holmes with scenes from two different Holmes films. Both pages are separated from each other. -- “We Have Secured… Sherlock Holmes Series of Adventures…” London: Supplement to the Bioscope, September 4, 1913. Entire ad approximately 10 x 15”. Rare double-page ad for the Eclair Company advertising their films, all based on Doyle’s stories (there is a portrait of Doyle inset over a profile illustration of Holmes facing the text of the advertisement). The two pages have been neatly taped together on verso. Some general toning, light wear and some occasional chipping to ads. Of related interest, the Eclair version of The Copper Beeches is believed to be the oldest surviving Sherlock Holmes film.
