[DOYLE, Arthur Conan (1859-1930), association]. Swan Eyedropper Pen with engraved gift presentation from Sir Arthur and Lady Conan Doyle. [England: Swan Pen, ca. 1910]. Elaborately decorative gold-plated pen with the following inscription: “From Sir Arthur & Lady Conan Doyle. Christmas 1910”. With pull-off lid and original unscrewing nib. Pen with lid is approximately 5 ¼”. Base of pen is stamped “‘Swan Pen’ Pat Apr 29 90”. Some tarnishing to case, mild wear (writing function not tested) to nib. This pen was a gift from the Doyles to Mr. James Holmes (this was purchased from Mr. Holmes’ great-granddaughter). Offered with Parker Duofold ad from The Saturday Evening Post, Feb. 7, 1931. Full-page color ad on the inner front wrapper (neatly removed from the issue). Approximately 13 ½ x 9 ¾”. Lightly toned, rubbed. Ad with photos of Doyle and the pen.
