Woodcut to title page, head and tail pieces. [i - ii, 1], 2 -8. Hinge broken, else good. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED facing the title page: “To James Savren / with the respectful compliments / of the /editor / Charles Hindley / Oct. 19th 1876.”Savren was a barber by trade, but also assisted some of the great magicians of the early Victorian era and gave his own performances in the style of Philippe (see Lot 432).
