Folded newspapers, approximately 26 x 21” and smaller. The usual wear, soiling, creasing, foxing. Generally very good. Newspapers include: The New York Times (April 18, 1865, with updates about Lincoln’s assassination), New York Tribune (April 2 and July 30, 1864, January 18, 1865), Cincinnati Daily Commercial (March 15, 1865), The Charleston Mercury (December 22, 1860 (“The Union is Dissolved!” - p. 2 and October 14, 1862 (first page only - torn)), Daily Dispatch (Richmond, VA, March 31, 1865), Charleston Daily Courier (December 15, 1863). Also included are eight issues of The Daily Journal from Wilmington, NC, September 6, 1864 to September 16, 1864. Nearly all of the Confederate or Southern newspapers have runaway slave notices, or advertisements for slave auctions.
