[LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865)]. “Daily Star Extra” on the Assassination of President Lincoln. [Connecticut]: Daily Star, Saturday Morning, April 15, [1865]. Letterpress broadside Extra reporting the assassination and death of Abraham Lincoln and the wounding of Secretary William Seward and his son, Frederick, during a separate assassination attempt. Three columns. Approximately 15 ¼ x 10 ¼”. Toned, foxed, edgeworn, some loss of text, chipped, multiple creases, several tears, especially at creases. Still, a very good example of this rarity. “Appaling National Calamity. Murder in the Capital. President Lincoln Assassinated in a Theatre. Secretary Seward Stabbed in bed. The Assistant Secretary of State also Hurt.” Sold with an early reprint of the Saturday, April 15, 1865 issue of The New York Herald relating the assassination of Lincoln (creases, toned, some tears). Very good.
