[BASEBALL]. COBB, Ty (1886-1961). Original Action Press Photograph of Ty Cobb at Bat, PSA Type I Authentic. [Ca. 1910s]. Handsome sepia-toned original photograph (7 x 9”) of Cobb in his Detroit Tigers uniform with bat in hand during a game (a crowd is in stands in the background). Upper and lower corners of right side clipped, three visible vertical creases, a few marginal tears, some edgewear, three tape repairs to verso, “Ty Cobb” written in pencil on verso. Very good. Tyrus Raymond Cobb, nicknamed “The Georgia Peach,” was a center fielder for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Athletics; later he managed the Tigers. A legendary player, he set 90 MLB records during his tenure as a player. He was one of the first players inaugurated into the Baseball Hall of Fame, earning the most votes of any player for admission (no other player received as many votes until Tom Seaver). The Sporting News ranked him as #3 of their “Baseball’s 100 Greatest Players”. Encapsulated by PSA, Type I Authentic. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
