[TWAIN, Mark (pseudonym of CLEMENS, Samuel Langhorne, 1835-1910), association]. SULLIVAN, Henry (1895-1975). “Huckleberry” A Musical Play based on incidents and characters from Samuel Clemens’ immortal “Huckleberry Finn”. Music and Lyrics by Henry Sullivan Book by Marvin Moore. [New York: Property of Albert Johnson, 1950]. Mimeograph copy of the script of an unproduced film musical (this script is written for the stage in a format similar to a film script) by M.G.M. 4to. 100 pp (rectos only). 11 x 8 ½”. Inscribed with Sullivan’s name and address and other contact information on the title-page (unknown if this is in Sullivan’s hand). In the script folder with the “Rialto Mimeographing and Typing Service Bureau” sticker on the front, bound with three brad clips. Folder worn, chipped, toned, text leaves a bit toned, with some leaves creased at lower corner. Very good. It is unclear if this was ever produced for the stage, but there is some evidence that this was nearly made into a movie musical by M.G.M. in the 1950s - possibly with a young Dean Stockwell in the title role. Sullivan had written songs for such films as The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Sunny Side of the Street (1951), and Perfect Understanding (1933).
