CONLEY, Lige (1915-1938). Inscribed Black and White Portrait Photograph. [N.p., 1924]. Large silver gelatin portrait of this silent film-era comedian, inscribed by him in white ink on the photograph near the right margin: “To Mr. A. J. Paul With my sincere good wishes always Lige Conley -- 1924 - Mermaid Comedies.” Approximately 13 ½ x 10 ½”. Some edgewear, margins of photos with silvering or dampstaining, numerous ink notes on verso in an unknown hand. Still, very good. Conley was a comic who worked for Hal Roach and Mack Sennett, and co-starred in several shorts with Harold Lloyd (1893-1971), as well as his own comic shorts (including “Fast and Furious,” 1924, with its famous car-motorcycle-train chase).
