Large Collection of 1940s and Earlier Entertainment Sheet Music. An unsorted and unpicked collection of approximately 170 pieces of sheet music from the files of music impresario Barney Young. Many with full color cover illustrations, and several with the same cover design, but different sheet music inside. Many are for the exclusive professional use of the artists and labeled accordingly. Some of the artists and composers depicted or named on the covers including Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Hoagy Carmichael, Mamie Smith, Jimmy Dorsey, Rudy Vallee, Fanny Brice, Cole Porter, Gary Cooper, Eddie Cantor, Richard Himber, William Powell and Myrna L Well in The Great Ziegfeld, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland (five different songs for “Girl Crazy”), Irving Berlin, Irene Dunn, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, and many others. Lot includes two file folders of related ephemera, including correspondence, radio announcement scripts, and publicity material, mostly addressed to Gem Music Corp., NY, in the late 1930s and early 1940s. 9 x 12” Very good.
