Philadelphia, PA, January 7, 1846. Four folio pages on one folio sheet. Each page approximately 720 x 520 mm. Toned, foxed, worn, soiled, marginal chips and tears, one horizontal crease. On p. 1 is a rare engraved map of the Oregon Territory: “A Correct Map of the Disputed Territory in Oregon.” The Oregon Territory was disputed between the United States and Great Britain until a treaty was signed in 1846, finally establishing a border between Oregon and Canada. This had the effect of giving the United States territory a foothold on the Pacific Ocean.
