[REEFER MADNESS]. Marihuana. Weed with Roots in Hell. Dwain Esper, 1936. Color printed window card (possibly by Morgan Litho Co.), 464 x 337 mm, pinholes at corners, very small tear at lower corner margin. An early exploitation film that evaded strict censorship of its lurid content (“Weird Orgies, Wild Parties, Unleashed Passions”) by claiming to be educational. A fine and rare example of the sensationalized anti-marijuana propaganda that was prevalent in the United States during the early to mid-20th century.
