[STEVENGRAPHS]. Pair of Stevensgraphs of Napoleonic-Era Scenes. [Ca. 1860s-1880s]. Depicting “Wellington & Blucher Meeting After the Battle of Waterloo” and “The Death of Nelson”. Sight of both approximately 2 ½ x 7”. Both framed under glass with printed mats. Frame sizes approximately 7 ½ x 10 ¼”. Some toning, wear, soiling to mats, else fine. Stevengraphs were woven silk pictorial scenes popular in Victorian England. They usually addressed such subjects as fox-hunting and cricket, with military events depicted less often. These titles are extremely rare, and the Wellington and Blucher item probably sold for the 50th Anniversary of the great battle at Waterloo.
