[BEARSKIN PLATE]. Grenadier of the “Garde Imperiale” Bearskin Plate. [France, ca. 1800s]. First empire embossed metal (copper?) plate of the imperial crowned eagle flanked by flaming grenades and flaming arrows clutched in the eagle’s talons. Approximately 10 ¼ x11 ¼”. Mounted onto a later frame by two nails (easily removable). Frame size approximately 6 ¼ x 8 ¼” . Some wear due to age and wear, including some bumping, creasing. Still, a fine example.
