[ROYAL BRITISH FIRE BRIGADE]. Royal Fire Bucket. [England, ca. 1790]. This extraordinarily rare artifact is a hand painted leather fire bucket displaying the British Royal Coat of Arms with the King’s Crown above. Approximately 6 ½” in diameter at the bottom rim, 10 ½” in diameter at top rim, and 11 ?” high. The top rim, side and base is secured by rivets with the Arms displayed on one side, and without doubt would have been located at Windsor Castle or one of the Royal Residences of the era; a patina and minimal wear over its life of 300 or more years have created a matchless showpiece. It was acquired in the early 1970s from H.W. Keil, Broadway, England, one of the premier antique dealers in the United Kingdom. Despite the normal wear due to age and use, this is a very good artifact.
