[FIGURAL PIPES]. Pair of Nineteenth-Century Carved Pipes. [Ca. 1820s-1850s]. Carved Meerschaum pipe of a Hussar with pillbox hat and a carved tortoise and bone pipe depicting a bird of prey’s talon holding an egg. Both in custom lined cases. Sizes range from 5 ½ to 4 ¾”. Some mild wear to cases, Hussar pipe with a crack near the mouthpiece. Inscribed silver plaque on the Hussar pipe, that reads: BRITISH ISLES, NORWAY, FRANCE, BELGIUM, HOLLAND, GERMANY, SWITZERLAND, SPAIN, MORROCCO [sic], BAY OF BISCAY, ARTIC [sic] OCEAN, MEDITERRANEAN.
