[SNUFF BOX]. British Georgian Silver Double Snuff Box. [Birmingham: Samuel Pemberton, ca. 1810]. This beautifully detailed Georgian double snuff box is hallmarked Birmingham 1809/10 with the maker's marks “SP” for Samuel Pemberton, one of England's top silversmiths of the era. Box approximately 3 x 1 ½ x ¾”. Artfully hinged on a curved base, it opens at both ends to reveal two snuff containers, one above the other. Careful scrutiny of the panel on the convex cover reveals the faint original owner's name, “John T. Gun(n)”; hallmarks are visible on the reverse of the lid cover and the base of each box. Some wear, tarnishing, owner’s name is faint and hard to read. Generally in very good condition. Rare.
