[UNIFORMS]. Pair of Officer’s Dress Epaulettes for the Grenadier Guards. [England, ca. 1829-1840]. Beautiful and elaborately tooled shoulder decorations for an officer of the Grenadier guards, with their motto “Honi Soit qui Mal y Pense” [“Shamed whoever thinks ill of it”] engraved onto their familiar flaming grenade medallion. Matching pair with “Right Shoulder” or “Left Shoulder” stamped in gilt on the inner surface. Each decoration approximately 8 x 6”. Some minor wear, toning. A fine example of this scarce and lovely decoration.
