[UNIFORMS]. Colonel’s Dress Tunic from the Coldstream Guards. [Ca. 1880s]. Men’s wool dress tunic (size not listed, but seems to be a men’s size medium or large). Shoulder to shoulder length approximately 18”. The Regimental buttons grouped in pairs, the scarlet cloth, blue collar and cuffs richly decorated with gold bullion embroidery and scarlet dress waist sash with tassels complete the ensemble. The three chest medals are correct for the period (Egypt & Sudan Medal and The Boer War) but were awarded to a private in the Norfolk Regiment, 5187 Pte. H. Sampson/Norfolk REGt. Medals are slightly oxidized, but have the original ribbons. Some age toning to tunic, some wear and discoloration to sash. The tunic is near fine with slight fading on the back. This handsome dress tunic would have been worn by a Lt. Colonel of the Guards (a full Colonel would have the Crown and two Stars or Pips on the shoulder boards).
