[UNIFORMS]. French Garde d’Honneur Officer Sabre Belt. [Ca. 1813]. This is a great rarity for uniform collectors, an intact and all original Garde d’Honneur Officer’s sabre belt complete with lion’s head buckle hooks, red leather with silver braid embroidery and one of the two hangar straps. Approximate length with buckles approximately 31”. Belt approximately 1 ½” thick. Buckles approximately 1 ?” in diameter. The Gardes d’Honneur was a small division of four regiments of light cavalry, created in 1813 to serve as reinforcement to the Garde Imperiale in Germany. As a small division, Garde d’Honneur equipment is scarce and a belt such this as will often double the value of a matching sabre. The buckles are in fine condition and the leather supple and pliable; missing one hanger strap.
