Bound in purple cloth boards with burgundy straight-grain morocco tips, front boards with gilt central lozenge stamp of the “Athenaeum Library.” Both volumes rebacked to style in modern burgundy straight-grain morocco, spines ruled and lettered in gilt, newer endleaves (some wear to boards and tips, some occasional thumbsoiling to text and endleaves, small library sticker on fp, “sold” inkstamp from the Athenaeum Library on the verso of both title-pages.) Near fine. FIRST EDITION. This is an excellent record of the scandalous affair between Nelson and Hamilton.
