[DARLEY, F. O. C. (1822-1888), illustrator]. Sherman’s March to the Sea. [Hartford, H. H. Willes, 1883]. Black and white lithograph depicting General Sherman viewing the distant destruction of buildings, telegraph poles, etc., while soldiers and African-American men are dismantling a railroad track, and a family of African-Americans fleeing the chaos. Sight approximately 20 ¼ x 30”. Matted and framed under glass. Frame size approximately 27 ½ x 37 ½”. Print toned, soiled, with a few marginal tears (one is nearly 6”), two visible vertical creases, some wear, soiling to mat and frame. Very good.
