[SLAVERY DOCUMENT]. Manuscript Slave Appraisal. Wilcox County, AL, 29th. Dec. 1854. One-half 4to page on one light blue ruled 4to laid-paper leaf. Approximately 9 ¾ x 7 ½”. Framed under double-sided glass. Some toning, three horizontal creases, some tears to lower corners, left margin torn a bit unevenly (not affecting text). Two small tape pieces on verso. Very good. “We the undersigned appointed by the Honorable Probate Court of Wilcox County Alabama appraisors, to value and appraise two negroes belonging to the estate of John Andrews did to wit Primus and Dennis. That we appraised said negroes and the following is a correct statement of said appraisement of Primus valued at $600.00 / Dennis “ “ 400.00 - $1000.00 / Sworn to and subscribes before me this 11th January 1855 / Appraised 29th Dec. 1854”. On verso: “Estate of John Andrews / Appraisement of two negroes Primus & Dennis / Supplemental Recorded in Book No. 4 Pgs. 394 Jno. A. Jackson Judge &e”.
