BEN ALI-BEY (Max Auzinger, 1839 – 1928). A Collection of Posters and Broadsides. European, 1875 – 1920. Group of approximately 40 letterpress and offset heralds, broadsides, and posters advertising the magic show and black art act of Ben Ali-Bey and his supporting acts, including his family. Several pictorial examples show the magician in his wizard costume or in the company of various arcane props and serpents, including one with a handsome central woodcut of the wizard, and a larger later broadside bearing images of a Loie Fuller-type serpentine dance executed by a member of the Auzinger family. The largest 24 x 36”. Some with old tape repairs, many with ragged edges and expected wear. A very good group.
