Image appeared as Plate 209 in Portfolio 6, “The North American Indian, Vol. 6. The Piegan. The Cheyenne. The Arapaho.” Image 12 x 16”. The image is described by Curtis is Vol. 6: “Three proud old leaders of their people. A picture of the primal upland prairies with their waving grass and limpid streams. A glimpse of the life and conditions which are on the verge of extinction.” Platinum prints are rare, of exceptional quality, and constitute less than half of one percent of extant Curtis prints. All proceeds benefit the Howard L. Gottlieb Foundation, which has been supporting nonprofit organizations in the fine arts since 2015.
