Original photogravures; one on Japanese vellum; the other on Dutch Van Gelder paper. Curtis’s credit, photograph’s date, title, plate number, and printmaker’s credit recto. Plates 670 (Reuben Taylor [Istófhuts] - Cheyenne) and 666 (Cheyenne Costume) in Curtis’s Portfolio 19, “The North American Indian, Vol. 19. The Indians of Oklahoma. The Wichita. The southern Cheyenne. The Oto. The Comanche. The Peyote cult.” Images 15 ½ x 11 ½”; sheets 22 x 17 ¾”; and reverse. On 666: evidence of ghosting verso, minor foxing, crease upper right corner. Both: Deckle edges; slight toning/discoloration around perimeter; very minor spots. Images are crisp and bright, in very good condition.
