FIRST EDITION, WARMLY INSCRIBED BY ALDRIN ON THE DEDICATION PAGE TO FELLOW ASTRONAUT AND SCIENTIST, KARL HENZIE: “To Karl & Caroline From UV Fotos on GT-12 to CB back door neighbors to Astro Alumni to who knows where - With Very Best Wishes Buzz 3-14-89”. Dr. Karl Henzie (1926-1993) was an accomplished optics scientist, and flew several missions, including Spacelab and the Space Shuttle Challenger (he died while climbing Mt. Everest). The “GT-12” referred to by Aldrin is the Gemini 12 mission (November 11, 1966) in which Aldrin was the pilot while Henzie ran ultraviolet stellar spectra experiments for that mission. An excellent association from one legendary astronaut to another.
