Bound to style in later full brown morocco, boards paneled in black, spine ruled and tooled in black in compartments, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label, edges stained red, marbled endleaves (spine label chipped, joints worn, some edgewear to boards, hinges starting, text foxed, soiled, p. 193/194 repaired at upper corner, with several contemporary ink notations throughout). Good. SIXTH EDITION. This book, by one of the great humanists and thinkers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, is a varied compilation of scientific articles by Bacon. There are articles about the prolongation of life, witches, keeping oranges fresh, silencers for guns, diseases of corn, the possibility of E. S. P., and the significance of dreams. Wing B327.
