Illustrated. 46, [4, blank] pp. Publisher’s full green cloth over beveled boards, front board stamped in gilt, rear board stamped in blind (binding heavily worn, dampstained, hinges cracking, ffep missing, some spilling in text, some gutters overopened). Fair. WITH A CLIPPED SIGNATURE OF EDWIN BOOTH, DATED “JUNE 1880” AFFIXED TO FFEP. Clipped signature approximately 2 x 3 ½”. From an old catalogue entry affixed to ffep: “Nearly the whole of this beautiful edition was destroyed at the burning of the theatre shortly after the publication.” Booth was one of the most successful actors of his day, though, tragically, he is best known for being the brother of assassin John Wilkes Booth (1838-1865).
