Bound in a nineteenth-century custom binding of full green morocco, boards decoratively ruled in gilt and paneled elaborately in gilt, spine elaborately stamped in gilt, gilt board edges and turn-ins, yellow coated endleaves, all edges gilt (spine toned, binding worn and scuffed, several gutters repaired or reinforced, some occasional creasing or soiling in text). Good. FIRST EDITION THUS, DEDICATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY MRS. HARTLEY TO LADY GEORGIANNA CODRINGTON ON A TIPPED-IN LEAF: “Presented by Emily Hartley to The Lady Georgiana Codrington to whom, by kind prescription [?] this, her first work, has been, with sincere pleasure dedicated.
