Publisher’s pictorial wrappers printed in red and black (front wrapper worn, soiled, rear wrapper missing, spine worn and chipped, text with some soiling, foxing, wear). Still, a very good copy of this rare and unusual New York guide book. REVISED EDITION, “Revised, Enlarged, and Corrected by the Author.” Foster, a rather shadowy literary figure of which little is known today, combined information about New York and its people with social commentary and satire. He was a “muckraking” journalist before the “muckrakers” rose to prominence.
