DODGSON, Charles Lutwidge (“Lewis Carroll”) (1832-1898). Autograph Letter Signed. Signed at bottom, “C.L. Dodgson” to “Dear Mrs. Ayles”. Christ Church (“Ch. Ch.”), Oct. 26 [ca. 1870s]. 1 12mo page on 1 sheet on mourning paper. Sight approximately 6 ¼ x 4”. Matted and framed with an image (a newspaper clipping?) of Dodgson under glass. Frame size approximately 12 ½ x 16”. 1 vertical and 2 horizontal creases visible, some minor occasional soiling to letter. Fine. “It will and at all inconvenience are to have orders piece meal, + the sooner you order any you like, the better, because of the lighter I have some groups printed already, in anticipation of an order. Excuse haste, + believe me Sincerely yrs, C. L. Dodgson”. Apparently a letter to a potential buyer of his photographic prints, which he would sell for much of his adult life. Not examined out of frame.
