LINDBERGH, Charles (1902 – 1974). – GURNEY, Harlan (1905 – 1982). Charles Lindbergh and Harlan “Bud” Gurney Signed “We” photograph and airmail display. N.p., n.d. Gelatin photograph (10 x 13 ¼”) of Lindbergh and Gurney, SIGNED by both in ink (Gurney adding an inscription “To Ralph [?] / Sincerely”). Affixed with corner mounts to a hand-drawn contemporary patriotic background entitled “We,” after the title of Lindbergh’s autobiographical account of his solo transatlantic flight. Also incorporated into the display are three pieces of airmail (1928; 1928; 1933). The frame mat and verso marked by Chas. R. Cadman (Toronto. Ohio); one piece of airmail also addressed to Cadman. An impressive autograph display depicting these celebrated aviators who were lifelong friends: Gurney was one of Lindbergh’s oldest friends and served as technical advisor on “The Spirit of St. Louis,” the 1957 film starring Jimmy Stewart.
