QUEEN VICTORIA (1819-1901). Document Signed, Dated the Day of Her Coronation. [London]: Horse Guards, 28 June 1838. Manuscript document (written in an unknown hand) signed “App’d / Victoria R” by the queen at the bottom right of the first page. 2 4to pp. on one bifolium leaf. Each page approximately 12 ? x 7 ?”. Each page with one vertical and three horizontal creases. Fine. “Most Humbly submitted to Your Majesty. The Governor of the Royal Military /college having transmitted the enclosed List of Candidates who have applied for admission with the Junior Department. It is Most Humbly Submitted to Your Majesty, that these Gentlemen, shall be examined by the Collegiate Boards for the purpose of being admitted into the Royal Military College if found properly qualified. / Horse Guards / 28 June 1838.” A side note on the same page: “Vide [?] See: to Sir G. Scovell 5th July 1838.” (General Sir George Scovell, 1774-1861, governor of the Royal Military College) On p. 3: “Memorandum / 28 June 1838 / Candidates applying for admission into The Junior Department of The Royal Military College / [Illegible initials]”. It is possible that this document was signed on July 5, but it has the official date of Victoria’s coronation.
