The wraith-like image of her departed child floating behind her, hands on the woman’s shoulders. CDV format, 4 1/8 x 2 3/8”. Printed photographer’s mount, with inked notations to verso reading, “No. 12 / [illegible] Human Nature [illegible].” In the upper right are the penciled initials “WSM,” possibly in the hand of the photographer.
