“Wagon Driver in Green Coat and Cap” Marshall Field’s Animatronic Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field’s, 1982. Large painted plaster figure (“Delivery Wagon Case; Figure II”) of a Victorian-era man in green uniform jacket with brass buttons, fleur-de-lys collar buttons, matching green cap with brim, belt, and white trousers with green stripe, and black boots. One hand was apparently holding an object (horse’s bridle?) which is now missing. On wooden base with motor and plug. 42” high. Some wear, one of the legs of the base is detached (yet present), motor partially works, but figure doesn’t move. Fine. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design. Third party shipping required.
