“Horse-Drawn Delivery Wagon” Marshall Field’s Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field’s, 1982. Painted wooden model of a Victorian-era wagon with roof, windows, and prop boxes of Christmas presents on 4 wheels. Wagon is painted green with decorative trim and “Marshall Field & Co.” on 1 side (as designed) with a side lamp (lamp’s power cord is now missing the plug). With static horse figure of gray painted wood with imitation leather bridle and harness. Wagon is 45” long by 40” high; horse is 38” long by 34” high. Some wear to wagon (wheels are loosely attached, finial below lamp is loose), horse’s ear, body, and head have cracks (head is nearly detached), one ear is re-attached. Good. An important part of the Christmas window displays of 1982. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago.
This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design. Third party shipping required.
